My question is...will I have opportunity to gain wealth? Everything in my chart indicates that I will but I never seem to realise my ambitions.

Hi Kim,

It is true that Sun conjunct Jupiter brings many opportunities and is considered to be very fortunate. Within the realms of whether this will happen for a person does depend on a few other things, one of which is that both the Sun and Jupiter need to be in good condition. This is the case for you as you are a Sagittarian. This means that you probably do attract quite a lot of good luck in life and many opportunities to succeed.

I would disagree with you that everything in your natal chart suggests that you should have no problems financially. The Sun-Jupiter conjunction may bring opportunities and good fortune but there is still a need to make best use of these opportunities and to define “enough”. Sagittarians are lofty creatures and tend to think very big. This means that they fail to define their destination or goal and so they never quite feel as though they have arrived. Define your financial goals, write them down and hang them somewhere prominent.

The other thing that Sun-Jupiter can bring is a lack of attention to detail and sometimes a tendency to trust too much in luck. People who win at the long term financial game generally have quite specific plans and use moderation in savings and investments plans. Moderation and planning is not your forte.

When it comes to holding money you have Pluto as the primary influence and you can work very, very hard and be quite focused on work and money to the detriment of all else. Then comes Uranus, the planet of upheaval and sudden change. Having these two planets in the house of overall wealth is in indicator of all or nothing conditions, you work hard and then end up with nothing. Largely this is because there is a wound in your psyche which causes you to unconsciously believe that you do not deserve comfort and wealth and so this, in turn, causes you to not be aware of yourself in financial matters. What happens with all or nothing people is they work hard and deny themselves leisure and pleasure and then rebel against themselves blowing all their hard earned progress. Moderation is always a better way to go but you will need coaching to change your ways.

The attitude towards these things is largely family oriented. Whether family had the same attitude or cause you to be more ambitious than they were you does not matter but you would do well to observe family closely and see how they do money.

The bottom line is not how much money you can get but what you do with it. Your Financial Significator is the Part of Substance at 7 Taurus and this falls into your 9th house in an intercepted sign. This implies there is more than meets the eye to your financial situations and your beliefs will play an important part in the handling of financial matters. Although there are some good aspects to substance there are also ones which indicate you are in denial about certain things. It is not uncommon for a Sun Jupiter person to try to be optimistic when they should sometimes be honest and realistic about certain mundane matters and put some good plans into action rather than just having grandiose schemes. Most likely financial loss comes about because you had a good plan to make some money and get rich but it ended up not working out as you had expected and it cost you more than you realised it would.

How do you overcome this? It is difficult for most Sagittarians to think moderation and work consistently, they have such grand aspirations. However, if you really do want to find financial stability then something is going to have to change. The way to escape the influence of your chart is through your Almuten Figuris which is Mercury, retrograde placed close to the fifth house cusp. Also ruling your 10th house of destiny, your 11th house of friends but also money from work or business as well as your second house of overall wealth it is an important planet when it comes to money. Mercury in Sagittarius retrograde indicates that your ideas are big and perhaps often not practical and they certainly are not in your best interests. Mercury square to Mars and Pluto also indicate that your thoughts and actions are the cause of financial woes and so the thoughts need to change in order to change the course of the action you decide to take.

I do believe you would need to be coached towards changes but you can begin by writing down all financial matters and hanging them in a prominent place. Write down income and known expenses and be very honest about these. Keep this list going and try to stick to a budget. This is not your forte but if you want something you will work towards it. The reason you need to replace current financial handling with mechanical good practices is because you are not aware of money and what happens to it. If this continues you will never have enough, you will earn and then lose it through your actions.

Another very dour influence in this chart is Saturn at the Midheaven. Saturn is in Gemini and it is retrograde and this would imply a destiny which is full of obstacles and lack of reward. Just because Sun-Jupiter promises opportunities you yourself, by virtue of beliefs and mindset, can undermine the taking up and working of opportunities, bringing them to fruition and then holding on to the fruits of your labour whilst also having a moderate good time. Finding balance is difficult when you do not even begin to see rewards. Because Saturn is square to the Moon in the 1st house you will suffer depression and despondency which are inherited from family, particularly mother. Whilst you also try to maintain optimism because you fear falling into the abyss of desperation you must begin to see the varying parts of your nature, being optimistic on one hand is in opposition to being fearful and pessimistic on the other. Take care with your mental health and heed the signs of going from one extreme of optimism to the other of depression and despondency, try focus on that which is practical and consistent. Facing reality is not your forte either, as Retrograde Saturn implies, but it is one of the keys to success. Face what you fear and raise awareness of your self, your mindset and actions and then you can make better progress in life. Saturn at the Midheaven can imply you have a fear of your destiny and thus you manifest what you fear most.

Most likely you struggle with debt, always behind and when you get one thing sorted something else happens and you find yourself back where you began. The cycle is perpetual and it becomes difficult to remain optimistic. It is a difficult chart and you do need some help and coaching in order to change mindset and habits to something that works better for you. If you cannot afford coaching then at least make lists of all things financial, including anything you spend on a credit card. You can keep your receipts and write them down when you get home and then there will be no excuse as to why you do not have money. Learn to think moderately and ask yourself if you really need what you are about to spend your money on. Look at regular expenses too and see if you cannot minimise them in some way. Mobile telephones are also an impulse problem for those with aspects such as yours and you really do need to grow up and take responsibility for what happens to your money.

In conclusion, there are three factors I would like to mention;

define “enough” find out what abundance really is and if your goals are set to high you may always fail to reach them.

do not look for a free ride through life. Take good fortune sent your way and make best use of it but remember to maintain a mindset which is grateful, otherwise you will always be lamenting what you don’t have whilst not appreciating what you do have.

avoid get rich quick schemes, they always cost more time and money than they are worth
